Privacy Policy

The National Association of Manufacturers (“NAM”) is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to [www.Exportersforexim.org] (the “website”).  This Privacy Policy describes our practices concerning personally identifiable information—such as your name, email address, telephone number, or postal address—that we collect through the website (“personal information”).  This Policy also describes our privacy practices with respect to other information collected through the website, such as your IP address and how you use the website.

The personal and other information that we collect about you is controlled by NAM, which is headquartered in the United States at 733 10th Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20001.  By using this website, you agree with and consent to the terms of this Policy.  Please note that this Policy covers the collection of data only through this specific website, and not through any other NAM website, including www.nam.org.

Our collection and use of information

Personal information.  You may use the website without disclosing any information that we can use to identify you personally.  However, if you sign up for updates about issues discussed on the website, or you submit a letter to Congress through the website, we will collect personal information from you, including your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number.  We may use this data for such purposes as processing the requests that you make on the website, improving the website and related services, or contacting you for various reasons, including to inform you about other issues that may be of interest to you.

Web log data.  When you use the website, we automatically receive and record certain information from your computer (or other device) and your browser.  This may include such data as your IP address and domain name, your software and hardware attributes, the pages you visit on the website, the date and time of your visit, the files that you download, a referring URL from the web page you visited before navigating to the website, and certain cookie information (see below).  To do this, we may use web logs or applications that recognize your computer and gather information about its online activity.  We also may partner with certain third parties to collect and analyze some of this information (see the section below entitled “How we share personal and other information with third parties”).

Cookies.  We use “cookies” on the website.  Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer by your web browser.  A cookie allows the website to recognize whether you have visited before and may store user preferences and other information.  For example, cookies can be used to collect information about your use of the website during your current session and over time, your computer’s operating system and browser type, your Internet service provider, your domain name and IP address, the web page you visited before the website, and the link you used to leave the website.  If you are concerned about having cookies on your computer, you can set your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being set, allowing you to decide whether to accept it.  You can also delete cookies from your computer.  However, if you choose to block or delete cookies, certain features of the website may not operate correctly.

Web beacons:  We may also use an application known as a “web beacon” (also known as a “clear gif” or “web bug”). A web beacon is an electronic file that usually consists of a single-pixel image. It can be placed on a web page or in an email to transmit information, such as whether you open an email that we send you.

We use the information that we collect through web logs, cookies, and web beacons for a number of purposes, including:

Sharing of information with third parties

We partner with certain third parties to collect and analyze the information discussed above.  These third parties may use web logs and web beacons or set and access cookies on your computer or other device.

If you prefer to prevent third parties from setting and accessing cookies on your computer, you may set your browser to block cookies.  Although our website currently does not respond to “do not track” browser headers, you can limit tracking by blocking cookies.

In addition, we use third party service providers to host and manage the website.  These third parties may collect and/or use your information to assist NAM with respect to the purposes discussed above.

We may also share your contact information with members of Exporters for Ex-Im.  This information may be used to contact you about issues relating to the work of Exporters for Ex-Im or other issues that may be of interest to you.  If you prefer to opt out of sharing your contact information with the Coalition, please send us an email at [email protected].

Finally, NAM may use or share your information with other third parties:

We provide links from this website to other websites that are independently owned, controlled, and/or managed by third parties.  NAM does not control or monitor the content on those websites, and we are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.  The collection, use, and sharing of personal and other information by those websites is subject to the privacy policies posted on those sites and not to this privacy policy.

Security

NAM takes commercially reasonable steps to protect personal data against loss or unauthorized access, use, modification, or deletion.

Special note for website visitors from outside the United States

The information that NAM and third parties collect from the website is transferred to and processed in the United States for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.  NAM also may subcontract the processing of your data to, or otherwise share your data with, affiliates or third parties in the United States or countries other than your country of residence.  The data-protection laws in these countries may be different from, and less stringent than, those in your country of residence.  By using the website, you expressly consent to such transfer and processing.

Additional information

We reserve the right to amend this Policy at any time.  We will post all changes to the Policy on this website, so you should review the Policy periodically.  Any such amendments to this Policy may apply to information we collect in the future as well as any information we obtained prior to such amendment.  If we make a material change to the Policy, you will be provided with appropriate notice.

If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or about the information that NAM collects about you, please send us an email at [email protected].

Individuals who would like to “opt out” of receiving additional communications from NAM should contact the NAM to have their names removed from our lists. Corrections or other changes may also be made by e-mailing [email protected].
