Thermal & Mechanical Equipment Company
Thermal & Mechanical Equipment Company – Houston, TX
Founded in 1986, Thermal & Mechanical Equipment Company (TMEC) today employs more than two dozen workers in Texas and has revenues of over $30 million annually. TMEC specializes in supplying heat transfer and specialty filtration equipment to the high speed rotating equipment industry and chemical and refining operations around the U.S. and abroad.
Many of TMEC’s customers use their products in large materials that get exported around the globe, including their largest customer – GE. For those TMEC clients, the Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank is often a critical tool for securing the types of international deals which include TMEC products. If the Ex-Im Bank wasn’t available, TMEC’s customers would not be able to stay competitive against foreign corporations that offer alternative products, which could lead them to order fewer parts from TMEC as their export opportunities decline.
“Losing the Export–Import Bank would greatly affect our customers, and because of that, our own small business here in Texas,” says Russ Braden, President of TMEC. “Washington really needs to pay attention to this issue and enact a long-term reauthorization of the bank to ensure American businesses can compete with foreign corporations in the global marketplace, and by extension support small businesses and the jobs we bring to communities like Houston.”
