Please note that this Policy covers the collection of data only through this specific website, and not through any other NAM website, including www.nam.org.
Our collection and use of information
Personal information. You may use the website without disclosing any information that we can use to identify you personally. However, if you sign up for updates about issues discussed on the website, or you submit a letter to Congress through the website, we will collect personal information from you, including your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number. We may use this data for such purposes as processing the requests that you make on the website, improving the website and related services, or contacting you for various reasons, including to inform you about other issues that may be of interest to you.
Web log data. When you use the website, we automatically receive and record certain information from your computer (or other device) and your browser. This may include such data as your IP address and domain name, your software and hardware attributes, the pages you visit on the website, the date and time of your visit, the files that you download, a referring URL from the web page you visited before navigating to the website, and certain cookie information (see below). To do this, we may use web logs or applications that recognize your computer and gather information about its online activity. We also may partner with certain third parties to collect and analyze some of this information (see the section below entitled “How we share personal and other information with third parties”).
Cookies. We use “cookies” on the website. Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer by your web browser. Finally, NAM may use or share your information with other third parties:
- To respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish, protect, or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims;
- When we believe it is necessary in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to our property or the physical safety of any person, or violations of our terms and conditions;
- As otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.
